
"According to the Daily Mail, a school in Devon has been forced to remove CCTV cameras installed in the bathrooms after students protested about the invasion of privacy.
Hundreds of students enrolled in Lipson School in Plymouth either refused to go to school at all or insisted on not using the loo all day when they discovered the cameras on their return from half-term break.
As you can imagine some parents were none too pleased about the cameras and opted to take their children out of school and have them stay home until the situation was resolved.
Principal of the school, Steve Baker claimed contractors fitted the cameras and were operating on orders from another staff member who did not have the plans to have cameras fitted in the lavatories approved by him or school governors.
"Someone made an error. They had no authorisation from me or from the governors to install these cameras.
"There was quite rightly a perception that there could be an invasion of privacy, even though the cameras were not aimed at the cubicles."
